Between 2001 and 2006 Ian practiced Criminal Law in the United Kingdom.

From 2004 to 2006 he was a Partner at his previous firm, Messrs Goldstones Solicitors.

Ian has represented clients before the Magistrates Court, Crown Court and the Court of Appeal of England Wales.

Ian's practice experience includes has defending clients charged with a wide range offences ranging from minor public order disturbances to large scale drug supply offences, armed robbery and murder.

In 2005 Ian was the solicitor acting in R v Crowley: R v Lllewellyn Attorney Generals Reference Numbers 3 and 4 of 2005, (2005) EWCA Crim 574. The authority now provides sentencing guidance to Courts in England and Wales for the offence of manslaughter.

In 2006 Ian emigrated to Nova Scotia.

In 2007 Ian was admitted to the Nova Scotia Barristers Society.

Ian joined the firm of Arnold McKiggan Hutchison as an associate in June 2007.

Ian's is currently assisting John McKiggan with his representation of the Survivors of the Shubenacadie Residential School and continuing in his practice of Criminal Defence Law.
